Tourism as if Nature Matters

In today's world, most people are quite concerned about environmental issues. From the loss of the rich diversity of wildlife species to household recycling, saving our natural environment has become a part of our everyday lives.

The travel industry is no exception to this. In keeping with the demands of informed travelers, we are proud to offer a package of the most comprehensive ecotours of the West, created by Walk Softly Tours. Our tours are an exciting experience, designed to enhance the traveler's knowledge of native ecosystems, their plants, animals, geology and history.

What is an ecotour? Ecotourism, put simply, is tourism as if nature matters. Conservation of natural ecosystems, educating tourists about these places, and respect for native cultures are key ideas for this industry. In all these areas, Walk Softly Tours excels in providing a tour of the highest quality. Our guides have all studied ecology, geology and history extensively. Our chief ecologist has experience in environmental issues concerning species conservation, as well as a Master's degree in botany. We also employ American Indian guides to present cultural history and philosophy from a native perspective. Our tours strive to minimize impacts on the areas visited, and our staff is involved with local conservation groups to work towards the preservation of the natural beauty of the West that has captivated the imagination of the world.

We offer a diversity of tours including half day, full day and multi-day. Tours range from a two hour hike or a six day horse pack trip into the Rockies. There is something for everyone who enjoys the beauty of nature. The hiking aspects can accommodate all levels of ability and many offer handicapped access, so those who may be physically challenged are not deprived enjoying the scenic wonderlands available in the West.

Come explore with us this wondrous desert and learn about its diversity, its incredibly interconnected nature, its history and fragility.
